This red dot made by UTG is pretty much the rock bottom price for Airsoft red dots. But is it worth the low price?
Build quality at first seems rather unimpressive, everything except the rail mount is plastic, and not particularly high quality plastic either. It's pretty lightweight, which can be good or bad. The lens is not too strong and will probably break if hit with a BB going fast enough.
Mounted on a gun, it doesn't look particularly good but it's okay. It's definitely something you get for function rather than aesthetics in any case.
The dot itself is decent, and the brightness will work indoors or out, but is slightly more suited to darker environments. It's pretty accurate and is adjustable for windage and elevation.
The biggest problem has been batteries. It came with two batteries and both were burnt out within a week of minimal use. I haven't really looked for replacements but they probably won't be too easy to find.
Pros:
Cheap ($12)
Two rail mounts
Fairly accurate
Cons:
Unimpressive build quality
Small view
Doesn't look good
Bad batteries
Summary: Overall this is an okay red dot but I recommend saving a bit more money for one costing at least $30 if you want a quality one that will be better overall and last a lot longer. In this case, you really do get what you pay for.
Overall Score: ***
